CARTOON SERIES EDITION: The Pick.
I've always wanted to review this show.
Adventure Time is Cartoon Network's longest running series, now on its sixth season. There are a lot of reasons that this show made it to the top, earning itself a 'Primetime Emmy' and 'People's Telly' award. It was created by Pendleton Ward, and premiered on April 5th, 2010. The pilot was aired on Nickelodeon in 2008, (but they missed up the best chance of a hit show by rejecting it.)
THE STORY:
The series follows Finn, a human boy, and Jake, a magical stretching dog, as they go on adventures across Ooo. This show really proves its point of character development by focusing many of its episodes on other characters such as BMO, (the guys' living video game console, voiced by Nikki Yang) Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen, and the Ice King. (There are hundreds of other characters on the show, but I can't really list all of them.) Each season has its peak; with the most recent as the season premiere, when Finn locates his father, who is not mentioned of in all the series. The show has been renewed for another season, and most likely many more to come.
RAVES, AND RECONSIDER:
Rave: The sense of humour and unique set of characters. The humour of Adventure Time is what's hot right now; jokes that are random and strange. It is hard to say for sure what makes it so, but Pendleton really nails this sort of 'funny' well and attracts fans young and old alike.
Rave: The dynamic of the show. Adventure time is the kind of show that you can just start watching from any episode and enjoy. It's also the type of series you can also follow; as it does have a progressing story, but one that breaks away from the average 'cartoon formula.' The way one episode continues to the next, or how one episode can happen in the same day as another, all makes it an entertaining for the growing internet-oriented fan-base.
Reconsider: Many people were reluctant to watch Adventure Time
because of its push to 'be random' as opposed to the well-known 'genuine comedy' vital. However, this honestly depends on what sort of show you enjoy watching. Adventure time can get dark and disturbing yet stay innocent and light-hearted all at the same time. Some people don't enjoy its quick whimsical pace, or strange personas, or the sometimes overplayed 'randomness' (which sometimes falls flat), but then again; it all depends on if that is the kind of show you like.
FINALLY....
Here's my the last word...Adventure Time is an imaginative and very cleverly plotted show that contains oddly humorous bits in every episode, where the crevices are filled with a slowly progressing story that will most likely last a long time and continue to make viewers appreciate its weirdness.
